Solitude

Thursday, March 25th, 2010

Language… has created the word “loneliness” to express the pain of being alone.  And it has created the word “solitude” to express the glory of being alone.  ~Paul Johannes Tillich, The Eternal Now

I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived.  ~Henry David Thoreau, 1854

Inside myself is a place where I live all alone, and that’s where I renew my springs that never dry up.  ~Pearl Buck

I Love my Kids!!

Wednesday, March 3rd, 2010

Ok, there’s this kid who rides the same bus as my two youngest. We’ll call him Griffey, because that’s the name I use most often to protect the identity of the guilty. Griffey is pretty disruptive on the bus, most days.

This afternoon, Gabe (7) gets off of the bus and tells me “Griffey laughed to much and made my headache worse!”

Just before bed-time my wife asks Cora Beth (9) if Griffey still rides the bus, Cora Beth said “yes, and he laughed alot today, when he laughs he sounds like a clown choking on a ferret.”
